Born
in Barcelona, where he studies music at the City Conservatoire.
He has founded the Orquestra de Cambra Teatre Lliure, the jazz
groups Catalònia (1977), Onix (1983), Ictus
(1987) and his own trio, as well as tangos group Araca (1995).
He has recorded numerous programs for radio and T.V. and has performed
at the most important festivals in Spain, Portugal, France, England, Denmark,
Sweden, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, Israel, U.S.A.
, China and Argentine. He has collaborated with jazz musicians as Wynton
Marsalis, Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Kenny Wheeler, amongst others,
with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, with the Belgian Radio and T.V.
big-band, with the Simphony Orchestra Ciudad de Granada, with the Beethoven
Academie of Belgium, with the National Chamber Orchestra of Andorra, with
the Chamber Orchestra Andrés Segovia, and with the Orquesta
Nacional de España.
For a eigtheen years he was member of the Orquestra de Cambra Teatre
Lliure, such as pianist, arranger, composer and musical and artistic
director.
As a composer, he has written music for movies and for theater, as well
as numerous pieces for big band, orchestra, solo artists and several different
ensembles, plus all the material he place on stage preformances, either
with the trio or as a solo pianist.
He has been teaching at the AMMJ at the Taller de Músics
of Barcelona (being musical director for three years) and actually at
the ESMUC.
He has done more than fiveteen records such a leader and among others
like a sideman.
He has been awarded for many diferent composition prizes, the Music Nacional
Award by the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the award by the Jazz Musicians
Association of Catalonia.
